My name is Heather and I have been gluten free since March of 2008. I found out that I have celiac disease through a test from Entero Labs. My daughter and husband also are gluten free.
Our daughter, Sophie, had dermatitis herpetiformis, which is a rash that some people with celiac disease have. We thought that going gluten free would clear her rashes up completely. While going gluten-free significantly reduced the symptoms, we realized that she also had other food allergies which triggered eczema. She has allergies to both food and environmental factors. Her food allergies range from mild to severe and include some of the top allergens (tree nuts, sesame, etc). She also has asthma, with her main trigger being synthetic fragrances.
On my blog, you will find a wealth of information about being gluten-free with food allergies. Because, for some people like us, it is more complex than just eliminating gluten from the diet.
We're having fun on our journey with gluten-free, grain-free and allergy-friendly cooking and crafting and I hope you enjoy the recipes that we've created and find the recipes and information on my blog helpful to you.
My recipes are: gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, sesame-free, flax-free, and most are free of eggs.
I also use all organic and non-gmo ingredients, because it is important to us to feed our body nourishing foods that are free of pesticides and toxins.
Please, feel free to contact me with any questions or comments that you may have. I'd love to hear from you! :)
