A couple of years ago on New Years, I received an email from a local toy shoppe wishing their customers a Happy New Year. What was in the email was such a sweet sentiment that I have not forgotten it. I thought I would share it with all of you:
Believe that a better world for our children begins with us and align your thoughts, feelings and actions toward that goal.
Believe in your dreams.
Believe in today.
Believe that you are loved.
Believe that you make a difference.
Believe we can build a better world.
Believe when others might not.
Believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
Believe that you might be that light for someone else.
Believe in yourself. Believe in each other.
Believe that the best is yet to be.
Our version of New Years is calm and quiet, reflecting on the past year and dreaming for the next.
I will never forget the New Years Eve when I was pregnant with Sophie. My husband and I both looked at each other and exchanged looks that said "there's no way we're staying up until midnight." I was very pregnant at the time, and he was very overworked at the job he had at the time. Needless to say we did not stay up until 12am. But as luck has it, my husband and I both woke up within a few minutes of 12am. We kissed and promptly went back to sleep.
We make sure we eat food that's lucky (grapes, cakes or anything round, greens such as collards and kale, black-eyed peas) just for the fun for it. I am a firm believer that your thoughts create your world. So, my New Years resolution is simple.
Love more, smile more, laugh more, cherish more, hike more, take deep breaths, be thankful everyday and worry not about the little things.
One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: To rise above the little things. ~John Burroughs
Here's to you! Happy New Year! May you be blessed in the New Year with lots of love, good times, family, friends and moments to treasure.
