Gluten-free Products Spotlight, Holiday Edition (Week 6 - last one!)

Banner1holidayv

Homemade is best, but sometimes you need something already mixed together that is "quick and easy," which is what we needed right now too. Since we have some family coming to visit for Christmas - and it was late notice - we've been trying to get ready for their visit. We are going to make pumpkin bread, but we decided to buy some mixes to make a few things as well. Because everyone needs chocolate, we picked out the Bob's Red Mill GF Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. We also liked the sound of the Bob's Red Mill GF Cinnamon Raisin Bread Mix so we grabbed that one as well.

Be sure to check out Rachel's post at The Crispy Cook, and Kelly's spotlight posts at The Spunky Coconut.

This is the last post in the holiday edition! It has been fun. I wish you all a very sincere Happy Holiday's! See you in the new year!

Gluten-free Products Spotlight, Holiday Edition (Week 5)

Banner1holidayv

It is hard to believe that there is only one week left in the spotlight and then Christmas will be here! We are having some company, which we only just found out about, so we are rushing to get ready. We finally got a wall-mounted coat rack, which is painted a pastel green and looks really good by our door.

One thing I like to drink when I am doing a lot of work is Ultima Replenisher. Ultima is a balanced electrolyte mix that tastes really good. It is sugar-free but not artificially sweetened. The sweetener is stevia. It is also important to have electrolytes in the winter months - especially if you live in a dry climate like we do.

Ultima is also a great alternative to Pedialyte and Gatorade, which have artificial flavors and colors.

My favorite flavor is Orange, but there is also Wild Raspberry, Kiwi Strawberry and BananaBerry. It is great for moms, dads, and kids alike! It was also a great thirst quencher when I was pregnant.

It is gluten-free and vegan. Only 100% non-GMO ingredients are used.

Check back next week for the last holiday edition of gluten-free products spotlight!

Also, Kelly at The Spunky Coconut has been participating in the spotlight, you can take a peak at her spotlight posts here.

Stocking Stuffers!

I have to admit, stockings are one of my very favorite parts of Christmas. Stockings were always a huge thing for us when I was growing up. In fact, one year, my parents even filled one of those huge jumbo stockings (plus my regular stocking). I was really excited :)

We would always fill stockings with things like natural and organic candy, fruit, etc. Stuff that the person likes a lot but rarely gets to have. Sometimes I would put a Reed's Ginger Brew in my mom's stocking. We would also throw in items like floss, tooth brushes, etc.

We always would open the stockings first, and then we would start on the presents. Usually, after the stockings, we would take a brief break to have breakfast. Last year, for my daughter's first Christmas, I made her a stocking. I didn't have time to finish decorating it, so this year I am going to be putting her name on it with jingle bells. I hope it turns out well, I will post it after it is finished! I can't wait to stuff her stocking.

This year, I have found some pretty interesting gluten-free stocking stuffers. I hope you enjoy them and that they inspire you! Feel free to share with me any stocking stuffer ideas that you have.

"Snacks"
Ener-G Foods Crisp Pretzels

"Personal Care"
Stainless Steel Tongue Cleaner

As it gets closer and closer to Christmas, sometimes you just want it to slow down so that you can savor the decorations and excitement of the holiday season! I know I do :)

These Glutino Lemon Wafers would make a great stocking stuffer and also a nice treat for holiday guests if you don't have time to make a dessert.

Sometimes you are in a rush (sound familiar?), not just in the holiday season, but in day to day life. I like to keep a couple of the Enjoy Life Sunbutter Crunch Bars in my purse or diaper bag so that I always have something if my blood sugar starts to drop.

There is a certain book on Celiac Disease that I recommend to people who have been recently diagnosed, or for those who think they may be celiac, or even for those who simply want to learn more about something that is affecting a family member or friend. My mom got me this book when I first found out that I have Celiac Disease, and it really helped me to understand what was going on. It is called Celiac Disease: A hidden epidemic, by Peter H.R. Green, MD and Rory Jones.

Coupons! because every little bit helps.

Enjoy Life Boom Choco Boom Bars (75 cent coupon)

Enjoy Life Foods 55 cents off any product. Visit Enjoy Life and it is on the main page! Bottom left.

Gluten-free products spotlight, Holiday Edition (week 2)

Banner1holidayv

To kick off this Monday's Gluten-free Products Spotlight, I want to recommend Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil. This is our favorite brand of coconut oil. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which the human body converts to monolaurin. This boosts immunity and fights off harmful bacteria, among a list of many other benefits. Coconut oil also significantly improves digestion and can help prevent or ease irritable bowel syndrome. I could go on all day about the amazing benefits of coconut oil! The last important piece of information that I will say is that coconut oil improves our bodies ability to absorb important minerals (this includes calcium and magnesium). (Source: Organic Facts)

Coconut oil can be used in both cooking and baking. It can also be used in raw dishes (like my Chocolate Pie with Seed Crust). You can also spread coconut oil on rice crackers. Wouldn't that be a nice and unique treat to offer holiday guests? Top with a dallop of jelly or raw honey.

To go along with that theme, Brown Rice Snaps are a wonderful snack and can be garnished with dips (and coconut oil!) for a lovely holiday spread. Our two favorites are the Unsalted Plain Organic Brown Rice Snaps and the Vegetable Organic Brown Rice Snaps.

I hope you enjoy today's gluten-free products spotlight, please check back next week! And be sure to check out my first post and check out the other blogs that are joining in. Be sure to check out Kelly at The Spunky Coconut she is spotlighting Vitol Egg Protein Powder!

Enjoy Life Mountain Mambo Nut-Free Granola. This is a great snack, and would look very festive heaped in bowl for any holiday party!

Ruby Range Southwest Pancake Mix makes rich and moist pancakes. Because they have mesquite flour, they have a nutty and chocolate-like flavor. And although the recipe on the back of the mix calls for dairy ingredients, you can substitute (like coconut milk with apple cider vinegar in lieu of yogurt). Mesquite flour is an amazing gluten-free flour that adds richness to your baking.

More to come! Check back every Monday. Subscribe to my blog so you don't miss anything :)

enjoy!
